Cheers for the reply people. Had a talk to Doug and the lads at Stechnic today as well. Based on feed back I'm going DCCD going to keep my R160 for the moment as it has a Cusco 1.5way in it . Just look at the basic DCCD controller as I don't have ABS.

cheers

Haven't had an issue with diffs . Replaced one due to it having a lazy LSD . Same with drive shafts had one noisy inner rear cv replaced that , never had issues. I do have some mechanical sympathy .

The box in the car had high km when I put it in and had always been notchy . It lasted 18 months and a couple of track days and the drags so I can't complain only cost 800 bucks .

Re: The Cusco LSD, 1.5way R160 - what diff ratio does that have? Can you define that, as I want to retain a 3.54 rear so I can take an 06 STi box.

Any for sale anywhere, or best to buy these brand new?

Or is there in fact a Subaru R160 LSD which would be less hardcore as a daily?

Pretty sure the diffs in the MY01 are all wide open - that is the feel it get.

The lsd usually comes as the centre only so you have to re use your crown and pinion in your current r160. I replaced the lot as I went with the 3.9 non dccd box.

Yeah mines 4.11 just comes as a center. Got mine for about $900 bucks delivered . Makes a big difference to under steer mid corner and big difference under power on exit .
More traction feels more predictable . Does make the open center front alot more noticeable tho. Oh mines a daily and not really noticeable. I found it cheaper and easier to buy a center then to chase up a madd factory r160. Got my center from Possum Bourne Motorsport second hand . You will pay about 1100 to 1200 for a brand new Cusco 1.5.
