So what was your very first subaru owned ??
Well my first subaru was 1984 subaru sports wagon with single range 4wd. I'm 43 now bought that when I was 18,man the thing was one of the most reliable cars I owned the old ea81 never let me down. Did many runs from Lancelin to wedge having the absolute tits revved out of it in the summer heat.
Then had a l series with ea82 which was very reliable except for the noisy lifters. Left subaru for a while and got a car I always wanted last year a Liberty rs turbo. So come on tell us your subaru story...... Mark |
Sold my HSV VS Clubsport in 2002 to buy my first Rex, a MY00.
- Sold it in 2004 to buy a new Monaro. - Sold that to buy a new MY05 WRX in 2005. - Sold that in 2006 to buy a HSV VX GTS and I bought another MY00 WRX to go with it, so had 2 toys to play with. - Sold them both in 2007 to buy a new MY07 STI, my first STI (loved that car) - Sold that in 2011 to buy a HSV WM Grange. - Sold that almost immediately to buy a new MY11 STI, well my wife bought that for me actually see here So that's 5 Subaru's so far... My STI is now for sale :D, what next, don't know, but the GEN F supercharged HSV GTS is looking tempting... or maybe wait till the 2L STI is released, or maybe the new Focus RS... |
Yep the Vf supercharged gts is a beast the last of too of course and yes the new rs focus looks to have some good specs. Just love the boxer rumble have a hj v8 one tonner as a Sunday car nice v8 sound is hard to beat to.
|
07 STI, black. Not much of a story to tell, but I fell in love with the rumble and ended up back in an another STI (now).

My build is 4 years & 60,000km old now..... 1.6 bar daily...... What has been the cause of your engines committing suicide? |
Current is my first Subaru. Next year when I'm on my full license I plan to get an STI :D
|
Nice list of cars there Rossco the rotary brap brap is become a rare sound to hear on the street these days. My folks had a kombi travelled across Australia in it in the early seventies they are worth a bit of money these days.
Unknown what the hell happened to your engines was it very bad tuning the last at 2800kms ?? |
I am on my first subaru atm and loving it very much :) I plan to build it up after something goes bang :) will be a good learning experience :D
using the Perth-WRX mobile app |

My first Subaru is the one in my DP. Red '00 Impreza RX. Very easy and fun car to own. The aim being to learn how to maintain a car and learn manual, without the expensive costs that turbos throw at you (maintenance, insurance etc..)
It may turn into a conversion but a lot of stars would need to align for that. Otherwise my second subaru will be a white/blue 05/06 sti is on the cards for the future. |
Very good way to start joshrx if you could you can keep your rx as a daily and a sti to keep it company...

http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/sale-cars-only/60744-fs-built-2006-wrx-sti-4th-engine-fail.html
Just read your link certainly does not sound like a lack of quality parts used I all I can say that is that ia a awful lot of power you were pumping out there and you really need an engine builder who knows these motors. |
EDIT: I lack the ability to read.
Anyway, I bought the GC I have now about a week after I turned 19 and it travelled too and fro from SA to WA a few times with minor mods to eventually being the car it is now. It's been an enjoyable, yet slow, build to now, but sadly it has taken time and money from other projects of mine, some that have sat in a shed under a cover for about 10 years now. |
First one about 10.5yrs ago, 94 GX with the passenger side c pilar pushed in, I was going to do a WRX conversion on it but it was too nice with only 44k on the cllock so I sold it a couple of months later @ a 6g profit, then bought the Liberty I still have now and put V3 STI running gear in that, since then I've had at least 5 WRX's & at least 7 more GL/GX/RX's Impreza's a Legacy and 3 more Liberty's......every one was bought damaged in some way and probably averaged 4-5g profit on each one.

Bought from Fats of JWS fame. Used and abused for 4 season, now stuck in a back of a shed in Kelmscott I believe

Started with an 88 Leone 'Royale' (with cheese!) back in 99,
Traded up to a Lib 3.0R sedan (1st customer car sold in Aust) in 04, Then onto an 07 Outback 3.0, Sold that for an 99 Outback 2.5, Then a 99 WRX track car (now for sale here) Lastly a WRX based kit car, just for fun https://www.factoryfive.com/galleries/project-818/factory-five-wilwood-818s/ Great cars, one and all, with the possible exception of the Royale!!:) |
I brought a RS liberty in 1993 as new, wrapped that around a power pole, re birthed in to another RS and have continually moded in the search of power, the dash and the shell are about the only original parts left, but it does go, my new motor is even going to be even quicker, built by Justin..

my first was a 'sensible family wagon"

Had a bugeye 2.5RS auto.
Beat the crap out of that car and still see it around occasionally. Sold that and bought what is now Davidsdh's bugeye STi. Spent way to much time, effort and love with that car. I don't regret selling it as I know other Dave is doing all the stuff I wanted to do to that car. Now drive a Amarok. VW, the only logical when/if you sidestep out of a Subaru. |
Had 2008 WRX, upgraded to a MY11 WRX and sold that to make way for a 2015 Forrester XT Premium.
Grew up with a few friends that had Subaru's of different makes and models in their families and that exposure is what attracted me to the WRX. |
First car was an my02 wrx, bought it with a vf34 but don't think it was tuned well (or at all) and it developed some issues. Got rid of that and moved to an 08 wrx which I still have now and am really enjoying.
Will never buy another WRX though, if the next car is a Subaru then it would definitely be an STi. |
First subaru I owned was a 2000 model wrx bought about 8 years ago now. Traded it in late last year for a my10 wrx premium. Still enjoying it today.

MY02 STi in white. What a weapon and it "only" had 276awhp after a 4" dump pipe with separate 18" long waste gate, 3.5" xforce exhaust with cannon, mac 3 port boost solenoid and obligatory Verso tune courtesy of Sean. My god the heavenly noises it made.
|
My 2009 Wrx which also is my first car :P with a future of some moderate power and handling upgrades

My 1st was a Clubspec Evo 4 , then sold that for a 2004 GT Liberty, and now Iam in a 2011 Wrx
|
Hawk Eye STI in blue, going for a spin in justins the other night made me miss it so bad, however GTR is running now so ZFG.
|
Family had a Subaru wagon in the US ... Finally bought my own 1996 Liberty GX. Had it forever and loved it. Kids left and bought the MY08 Liberty GT Spec B.
Probably my last Subaru though as there's nothing that Subaru sells that I'd buy now. |
FIrst was an 89 Liberty Touring wagon. Complete with stuffed air suspension.
It looked cool riding on the bump stops. Till I hit a pot hole or something. Fitted lowered normal suspension and did an an RS conversion to it. Great car that one, good fun |
