Thought I'd lock myself away in the garage away from all the bog roll hoarders.
Had a busy few days on the car... Starting to strip the car ready for the colour change. These are the last pictures of the car in it's factory colour. No turning back after repairing a few dents. Building a "Spray Booth" in my garage. I've decided to paint it in stages to make it a bit easier for me. First up is the roof. First bit of colour on the car. This next part always scares the ****e out of me. Sanding down a new paint job After a flat and polish Masking up is a tedious ball ache but time taken doing it properly saves a ****e load of work later on. Main shell painted Yours trully Starting to remove masking Will start to flat and polish the shell tomorrow after I've repainted the boot brackets (bast4rd cheap masking tape) more to follow over the next few days.

Ill be doing a garage DIY paint job aswell. Curious as to what paint you used? Assuming acrylic?
Also wouldnt mind knowing what setup you used to spray it

Hey Tony,
Yeah I use 2K Arcrylic. I find it loads easier than the water based stuff. Setup wise there's not a lot to it. Mid range HVLP gun with 1.4mm Nozzle. 50L 2.5hp 9.5cfm compressor. It's a bit on the small side to paint a whole car at once with but as I do it in bits it seems to cope quite easily and I'm getting very good results with it. For me, spraying is the easy part. It's the wet sanding and the buffing where I f*ck things up. Had to re do one side completely as i caught it with the buffer. To be honest i could probably have got away with it but i want it to be perfect so it got done again today. We're more or less on lockdown here so i have plenty of time on my hands. I'll do a proper write up in the next day or two. Feel free to fire over any questions. Always happy to help.

Thought I'd better update this.
Been a busy few days on the car. Firstly considering I'm a computer nerd for a living and I'm doing this in my garage at home with a £100 compressor I'm gobsmacked it's turned out as good as it has. I did start by flatting and polishing after 24 hours but ended up having to redo a few panels as I'd gone too far with the polisher. So I thought I'd let the paint harden for a few weeks before I have another go All the pictures are of the panels straight after the paint has gone on them. No flatting or polishing has taken place yet other than on the roof. I'll let the pictures do the talking but to say I'm stoked is an understatement. No more progress on the paint side of things until my paint supplier re-opens as I don't have enough paint for the two bumpers and the rear wing

Another update as lockdown continues.
Firstly the bumper has always pissed me off. Whoever first cut the bumper for the Process West Intercooler, prior to my ownership of the car, made a proper balls up of it. It never fitted properly and cracked in several places as a result. So today I cut it properly, repaired the cracks with a bit of plastic welding using my soldering iron. I've then filled and primed it. All I need now is to get hold of some paint but I'm still struggling to do that due to lock down. Happy with how much better it looks already because it was pretty buggered before I started. Was dreading this next step as you have to be incredibly careful. One lapse of concentration and it costs you as I've already found out a couple of times Flatting and polishing. Scary stuff!! Mission Success!! No burn through thankfully. One fresh paint job flattened and polished. I am amazed at just how well this has turned out considering I've done it in my garage with a £100 compressor. Going to seal the paint with some Wax next.

This is the final finish I've managed to achieve.
I'm happy with that.

Had a minor set back last week as my usual paint supplier was closed for the forseeable due to Covid so I sourced some more paint to do the bumpers, rear wing and a door handle from another supplier.
Turns out despite them "colour matching" the colour wasn't even close to being right it was miles off. As luck would have it though managed to sort the paint issue out after the original supplier unexpectedly reopened on Monday. So I was straight down there and ordered some more paint. With the exception of the centre grill and OSR arch trim the paint job is finished. To say I'm pleased with how this has turned out is a huge understatement!
