Default CVT WRX Software update available now.

I've been having some weird issues with my CVT, shuddering revving all over the place and sometimes feeling like its in limp mode.

I've been searching the net prior to taking it back to Subaru and came across this website from America.

2015 WRX CVT Issue - Page 5 - NASIOC

So went to Mid West Subaru today for its first service and told them about the update etc.

They were able to get a copy from Perth, only came out in April 2016.

All I can say is wow! The update is awesome, like a new car, the power ratio is so smooth and that sucked into the seat feeling is back.

I read on the internet (so it must be true?) that the latest/current revision of CVT software now has the system "mimic gear changes", in that it steps through gear ratios rather than one long winding out constant rev range of the engine.

Have you noticed anything like this happening since you had the upgrade?

If it is indeed true, I'd suggest getting it done before your warranty expires, as Subaru will charge $150 to reflash your cvt software once it runs out.

Yes that would explain it, mimic gear changing, it is just so much better and the revs are now lower, 110kmh is 1900rpm, I'm sure it was sitting around 2500 before.

The mechanic stated that it may become a recall, so all those that purchased theirs before April 2016 should be ok.
