I've had a MY00 WRX cluster, an AUDM MY00 V6 STI cluster and a JDM V6 STI RA cluster plug straight into the same '99 STI dash cluster harness and all functions worked correctly without any rewiring (except DCCD on the RA cluster but that's to be expected). You need to determine if you have green or white plugs for the cluster though and match the cluster you buy accordingly. Being a 1998 it should be green (V5/V6) but it'd pay to double check.

98 is V4. 98 to 99 is the year the plugs changed.
