Paint looks fantastic. What headers are those?
|
They ultrex headers. They are getting ceramic coated and wrapped on monday so wont look as special.

we send our heads to tony knight in SA, he has a CNC profile, so it doesn't make any diff on head you use, that is later than 99 heads.
then you throw the cams, bigger valves and valve spring to suit. we also port match the intakes and exhaust not a cheap exercise but good flow for making plenty of HP. I AM squeezing some 630hp and 750nm of tugging, so the heads must be doing something right. and still looking for more.....its a drug.....and its addictive....ask Justin.. |
Thanks for the info mate, but i would be having the head work done locally
I think ive tracked another set of v6 heads down. Ill be cleaning them up on monday to see if there is any cracks in this set. The number stamps on the heads are exactly the same as the one i took off my v6. Is this enough to go on to say that they are v6 heads? Also say if newer heads are used, does v6 intake manifold line up or would have to go GD styles? Correct me if I'm wrong but cant the cracks be welded up? Or is it the expense that is the killer?

Looks like the source set has a slight crack in it. Here's photos of the cams on the sourced heads I've done some homework and seems that the 272 non Avcs kelford cams are best to convert to shimless buckets along with the machining require to allow bucket/Spring travel. So the best bet is going 01-05sti shimless bucket heads and delete the Avcs. Set clearance and see if I require new buckets if it doesn't meet clearance. Anyone got a 01-05 Sti heads that are for sale? [emoji848][emoji28][emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think it can be done, and cost probably not an issue. It's more of chasing decent power and whacking a fair amount of boost but having thoughts of that crack/cracks getting bigger and destroying the bottom end if a seat drops. [emoji33] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
