Default Urgent Advice needed - Opinions on this WRX

I flew out from Perth the other day to teach English in Japan for a year, I'm looking for a car to drive around for that time, have some fun in, then bring back and hopefully make a dollar or two out of.

An auction car has come up which seems like a good deal.
Its a 1999 STi 4 door wrx.

83K kms
Shaken registration until 2008' march
Zero sports after market turbo
Zero after market computer
after market fuel pump
inter cooler
after market oil cooler
after market exhaust
twin plate clutch
boost controlers

Potentially other mods too - I have no idea.

I havnt seen the car and distance from the Auction makes this impossible.
The car would cost me about 11k in total to get on the road in Japan.
Pics are included below

I'm sure some people here know their stuff - Of course it depends on the individual car - but generally would you advise for or against buying something like this? Does it look clean / well maintained / anything catch your eye?

The other option would be to buy a reltatively stock (exhaust / cooler) wrx, maybe a nice 2door STi. Which would cost a similar price (maybe 12k)

Why does every under bonnet pic from an auction car look dodgy as hell?
