Default Front Mount Intercooler 1997 gc8

Hey guys,
Serious question, i’m looking for experience not for people who may have an idea based on what they’ve heard, I really want to put a fmic on my Gc8 as it’s just something i’ve always wanted to do for aesthetic purposes, the car isn’t a monster and doesn’t get tracked so i’m not too fussed on it being an ongoing issue.

Will an eBay kit be suffice? I don’t see the point in spending 1000+ on a ‘good’ fmic kit because at the end of the day it’s an intercooler and will be better than the stock one regardless, i currently make 195kw at the wheels @18psi with a td05, 440cc injectors, CAI and a TBE with an sti tmic.

there’s a few on ebay ive been looking at and have looked at reviews so i’m just asking if anyone is running an ebay kit can i have some insight and experiences from you guys?

thanks.

* also would like to add that i’m also installing 650cc said injectors and a Link G4+ with a retune, hence why i’m thinking i may as well live my 12 yr old fast and furious dream of having a fmic.

Personally I wouldn't waste my money on a FMIC....especially if you're not tracking the car....and especially that you're not running huge power....an upgraded TMIC will do just as good a job and save you some $$ to spend elsewhere...

It'll introduce a whole lotta lag because the piping will be quite long.
Upgrade the TMIC, to something shiney and big, I did this and I feel awesome about it. I made no extra power but I can open my bonnet at car meets and wow the crowd.

A chap on here, boydev, not known to me, has a Process West TMIC for sale.
I have that make and it is good.

However, if your only interest is "aesthetic purposes",
a subject where I have been called "a total aesthetic void",
then go eBay but check the photos.
