Default Hood scoop and splitter question

Hey,

Im about to install my bigger tmic soon (when i find the right y pipe) and have ordered an sti scoop for my 03. My question is, can i just take off the splitter altogether and just have the sti scoop and everything will run fine? Or do i need an sti splitter for everything to run well?

Cheers
- Nick

Hey Nick

I got the STi Hood scoop and purchased a zerosport splitter (more fins on a better angle to direct more air flow to the intercooler)

I think the splitter is there to ensure that all air is put in to the intercooler rather than going aroung it.

Im no car buff but i would say you need iT to maximise the intercoolers potential.

As for the y pipe - i have been told that the sti y pipe is the all you really need - if not samco silicon hoses from hyperflow have these - speak to steve

Cheers

Chris

Yeh the zero sports is more efficient than the stockers and also, a good deal on silicone y-pipes, get on to Pro-Speed Racing, they sell them for only 179 (silicone that is) and they can also get the splitter

Answered my own question ...
i found on the turbo xs site about their y hose

" WRX Intercooler Y-Pipe (WRX-YPIPE-01-05) US$99.00
Eliminate restriction in factory hose
Direct replacement for factory hose
Suits MY01-05 WRX "

guess its not the one i need ..

Just wondering..

I'm thinking of getting a WRX scoop for my STi as i'm not a fan of the massive beak. Does anyone think it'll make much of a difference in terms of airflow to the intercooler?
