I've heard from several very good sources that BOTH WRX and STi will have 2.5L engines. Forrester type 2.5 for WRX and USDM spec EJ257 for the STi. No idea on turbos but I'd be guessing TD04 for the WRX and VF39 for STi. This should bring them in at roughly the same HP as now but with more torque and will be literally lag-free.

Is the Vf39 single or twin scroll?
What would it cost roughly to change out the pistons to CP?

VF39 is non twin scroll. As if we'd get a twin scroll 2.5L That's wishful thinking. The whole idea of twin scroll is to reduce lag, this is achieve by using displacement so no need for twin scroll.

Piston swap would be atleast $2.5k minimum, but why would you bother, just go with the standard setup until it lets go then make it stronger.

I think the USDM EJ257 is semi-closed block and has extra ribbing to reinforce the block.
