Thats what happens when you tarnish your record! Your now higher risk. Fact of life unfortunantly.

Everyone always has different experiences with insurance companies - hence all the different threads all the time.

I'm gunna stick by RAC as they gave me absolute zero grief after a shite situation - insurance lapsed by 9 days and had a total write off. Not my fault, but other car was uninsured, stolen and all occupants fled scene. RAC payed out, no questions asked. They will make their money back off me in the long run (or not so long run) 'cause that service means I'll stick with them unless they really try to screw me over.

Looks like you'll be ringing around a fair bit to get insured again for cars like that, but it wont be impossible - just as long as it isnt costing ridiculous amounts.

Good luck!

You just claim tens of $1000's from them for what was an at fault claim. Did you honestly think they were going to re-insure what they consider a 'high-risk' driver?

Best bet would be Just Car, Shannons or try a broker.

Most companies will request claims history for last 3-5 years and if you leave off details and your previous claims, they can deny your claim because you failed your 'duty of disclosure' to them. All the insurance companies now talk to each other in regards to claims these days.

When i bought my car i tried SGIO, HBF and RAC. All would insure me but SGIO wanted a premium of over $6000!!! But HBF and RAC were reasonable even after having many speeding fines. Went with RAC in the end coz i was already a member and got no claim bonus.
However, i heard on the radio one day at work that SGIO will beat any quote, but unfortunately because of the loud shopgirls i didn't hear the rest of the add so im not sure of all the fine print that goes with it.
Prolly worth getting a quote from a company then trying SGIO to see if they can beat it.
