Pffft, how many cars have run increased boost without a full ECU with NO problems at all for a long time? I can think of a number I've owned, and a number of friends cars...

True I ran a bleed valve (bad I know) on my 200sx(s14) for 2 years with no issues and it was prolly wound up way more than it should have been, maybe just lucky.

Bakks you probably never had an issue because you never had the car long enough to see the effects

Once your car knocks, you decrease the longevity of your engine. And if you change it back to stock the damage is already done.

Jaron & Bakks, im not saying you can;t do it.. but lets just think about it a bit more past the general caveman formula.

_YOU_ can wind up boost

Extra boost _LEANS_ out mixtures

now.. lets add a lazy fuel pump to the equation... and what does that do?

EXTRA _LEAN_ , now whats gonna happen when it goes _EXTRA LEAN_.

Also how do you _HEAR_ Det?

You need some specific equipment to do it, i've increased boost by one (yes the number 1) psi and i've heard baby ticks from the motor.. I'm no mechanical genius, but i do know that Det wont magically fix itself, you _WON'T_ magically regrow the pits of metal being taken out of the piston if it was detonating bad!

For me.. i'd rather be safe then sorry..

If you wanna play with boost and all that other stuff just make sure you have all the info you need to make an informed decision then just "oh lets turn it up", also having equipment to do it with helps ALOT!

You might be fine for a week, a month, a year.. but if its knocking hard.. its on the road to a rebuild.
