Default feedback on r-spec brands.. gonna buy a set

hullo peoples,

Im in the hunt for a set of r-specs before next weekend (motorvation)
just after feedback from the users of toyo, bridgestone, dunlop etc (in terms of grip levels and quick warm up)
im sorta leaning towards the toyo proxes r888...but i guess all comes down to availability between the brands

cheers all,

Muggz

Rms can help you with some Falken R-comps. 235/45R17 (cheap 2)
Have one in showroom if you want a looksey...

If your looking for Toyo, speak to mark at Bayswater tyres on 93719988

Muggz...price, availability, driving style, different compounds..etc etc...the list goes on. To give you an idea of who's using/used what...

Dunlop....Lister, Austin, Dunkerton, Herridge (jnr)
Toyo...Lister, Cerro...+...
Bridgestone...Austin, Pummer, Pollard, Paris, Lloyd
Silverstone...Herridge, Pummer, Dunkerton
Continental...Hoare, Healy

Not sure what others use (eg Alex)

Good luck

I use Pirelli PZERO Corsa R 235/40/R18 day in day out on my daily driver.

Sick tred pattern (bling) excellent dry grip, suprisingly good wet grip once warm, dangerous when cold in the wet (only when being silly, normal driving is fine)

$550 a tire. Have done approx 10,000kms on them, just starting to round the shoulders..

Currently using R888's, will probably go RE55's next. One benefit of the R888's is the ability to swap/flip/rotate tyres to get maximum usage once you've shagged the shoulders.

I think Alex is using the Kuhmo V700's.

Currently running Kumho V700 in 235/40R17. Only driven on them once in anger but they seem as good as the RE55S's I've run on before. Tony Sullens won Targa Tasmania on these a couple of years back.

One problem with the Kumho's, the rim protector is almost non-existant so it looks like the tyre isn't on the wheel properly but it is.

Yep spot on. So far it's the best tyre I've used for motorkhana type events. I've had relative success with them on the high speed stuff aswell, but not sure the current compound I run is actually suitable for long track work - more testing required.

These tyres get up to temp incredibly quickly and IMO don't change their characterstics as they wear down. They behave the same new as they do with 20% remaining.

my 2 cents

Alex
