i jumped on the website for Famous Classic Car Insurance to get an online quote ... http://www.famousinsurance.com.au/quote.html ... the quote page brings up a large disclaimer for you to agree to before completing details and this caught my eye :

__________________________________________________ _____________
"Notice to the insured
Your insurance contract may be arranged or effected wholly or partly with an unauthorised foreign insurer that is not authorised under the Insurance Act 1973 to conduct insurance business in Australia. The insurer is Heritage Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited (HMVI) of Suite 3, Town Mills, St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands.

Since HMVI are not licenced in Australia, they are not regulated or supervised by APRA and are not subject to the provisions of the Insurance Act 1973.

You may view the audited accounts of HMVI upon request. Larry Tyler is a Director of both Famous Classic Car Insurance and Heritage Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited. "
__________________________________________________ _____________

ive read over it a few times.

i interpret that as saying : we're an overseas company not bound by Australian laws. our director has his finger in another insurance companys' pie.

what does it really mean?

matt.

Age: 22
Car: 1995 WRX Sedan, Alarm and immobiliser
Mods: None (yet)
Insurance: RAC full comprehensive
Sub: Morley
Insured Value: $16,000
Cost: $1,100 yearly, $750 excess, 30% no claim bonus plus extra discount for being RAC road assist member (dunno how much discount though)

Driving Hx: 4 "recorded" speeding fines in last 5 years. (was pulled over once by a cop, doing 22km over limit in a corolla about 2 months ago. He didn't give me a ticket then and yet to see one in the mail).
One ding in which it was the other drivers fault. Her insurer paid for my damage.

RAC have a 5 year history of speeding fines and accidents. Well thats wat the lass said when i got my insurance.

oh? u farked urs up did ya? apparently according to the nice voice on the phone and i quote:

"yes, the aftermarket turbo and computer chip makes the car go faster, so we can't insure it"

These insurance girls must be trained at the same place, coz RAC also said the exact same words.

Certain mods the big companies wont touch. Have to expect that! Better to be honest than have to make a claim and be denied due to lieing about "illegal" mods.

As i've said before Just Cars have been great for me over past 2 years. Always helpful and friendly. Again, i havent claimed yet. One thing i dislike is my super high excesses. although if i was an insurance company, i'd charge ppl in the same situation a ridiculus excess as well

Default MY06 STi

I just got a quote for my MY06 STi at SGIO and HBF which was $1,500 and $856 respectively. Obviously I went for HBF!

29 years old and I live in Trigg.
