* buy & sell at same price, therefore ECU costs you nothing (original buyer/seller cops the loss).
* All you'll ever pay for is tuning as & when you need it.
* You're not locked into a dealer network (i.e. ASG for Verso; RT/MMS for ecutek).
* Anyone can tune it (provided it's not locked).

I wish I had the option 2 years ago.
