Default Hai!

Hey Everyone, I'm Geoff. Been working on my first car project and its nearing completion, so i decided to share my story with you all and hopefully get some help!

April 1st i bought a front cut of a 94' WRX Type RA and the next day bought myself a 95' LX. All up that weekend cost me $5,700,

Over the next few weeks up to about the 29th was working on it, and now i am almost finished! Woohoo! all i got left to do is get the bonnet and front and rear bumpers painted, then get it licensed! Sweet! It drives around good at the moment, just a couple problems to sort out which i hope you all can help me with.

Question 1: When i turn left at a roundabout i get a scraping/rubbing sound at my left rear wheel i think, what could it be?

Question 2: When i drive the "Check engine" Light wont stop flashing. ive checked all the oils and water levels and everything seems fine. do i need to reset the management system or something?

Question 3: Need to get that paint job, i searched and found a couple paint places... they quoted me 1k at Vulcun's. But ill check out that osbourn park place later on this week too. Just gonna get it all left white for the moment. Ermm... question was... oops, not a question!

Ill post some pics after i figure out how to do it haha

Cheers all,
Geoff

Hey Geoff...

nice project you have undertaken there... in regards to uploading pics, create urself a photobucket.com account and put the pics in there (easy to do) then when ur done copy and paste the [.img]__________[/img] line in a post here.. and you get your pictures.. There is also a "Sticky Thread" here somewhere which will show you how to do it.

As for the spraying, maybe try giving BBK a call.. he does some good work...

Rubbing could be tyre onto suspension, but not to sure as that is opposite side to the way the car would be leaning into a left hand turn...

Welcome to Perth-WRX, get those pictures up ASAP

Sounds like a huge project you've undertaken there Geoff, well done and congrats!

As for painting, I got my bonnet, vents and main scoop painted for a pretty good price at smileys smash repairs in osborne park. Managers name there is Eric.

Figured it out, thnx for the help! (I used deviant art instead)

This is the front cut, 3k but had Short shifter, turbo timed and front struts.

The LX, 1.6ltrs of PURE MUSCLE! it actually did sound like a truck, quite scary :P 2.7k and came with tow bar (?) and a good alpine deck. And some SICK hubs, haha.

The LX After a clean.

The WRX Engine

Removed the 1.6 form the LX

got some rims cos the disc brakes were too big for the steel rims from the LX. $600 for 4 rims and 6 tyres, thought it was a great buy.

Put in a new fuel tank, some Sti rear struts and a rear railshaft to make it AWD and an Apexi exhaust. about ~1k

And now its drivable! Yay! need to take it down to the pits after it painted and after a couple of the small problems are sorted out

But here is a photo of it, yesterday SICK!

Actually spent all my life saving on my car so far, so the project is slowing down. (My life savings was 4k :P) My dad got me the front cut for my 18th. and we are splitting most of the other costs. but i have to pay for the paint, and i got about 2k to my name, after i get payed tomorrow.

So im going to try and keep the paint job cheap and nasty and get another one when the money comes around. Just keep it Feather white? What you all think?

and yeah, its AWD. So i cant spin the tyres off the light anymore. unless i want to undo all my hard work that is!

Yeah, he is awesome. A month ago he knew nothing about Subaru engines. So he just pulled apart the LX and... Understood. He is the "one"! Nah, he used to work for a Lotus workshop, and has always been playing with motorbikes his whole life. Quit an amazing man.
