From my understanding the compression on a turbo motor is signifigantly lower to compensate for the turbocharger (ratio of 7 for example). So off boost it will feel slower then a N/A car with a higher compression (ratio is 10 for example)

i have a my01 as well its normal. my01 has longer ratios than the my02 and is heavier than the my00 so stock it will def be sluggy.

Sounds about right, whats that around 120kw? Interestingly thats what my car made with a 3" TBE, intake, pump, spray, STI top mount etc .. Then up to 160kw after a tune with a bit more boost, so goes to show that you really need to tune your mods on the later models.
If you're going to be doing some mods, Do not forget that on the 01/02's that there is a cat in the up-pipe and you'll want this to be one of the first things to go. Do a search around these forums and you'll find some good info. |
