Default Hello!

Hey all! I'm Patch & I'm a proud Impreza owner looking for a place to get some advice on my car, as well as a place to track down a few parts.

Well, bought my first car a few months ago, and thought it would be a good idea to join a place that would know just a bit about it while being close & relevant to my area.

It's a 1998 Impreza GX 2.0 N/A Sedan. Bought it back in June '10 so I'd have something to hop into when I got my L's.. always liked a good Subaru with a decent rumble, so it seemed appropriate to get an Impreza.

Wasn't long before a set of Koni Sport yellow shocks and a set of Pirelli P7's found their way onto the car. The car came with the 17" Advanti Racing Wheels, sports exhaust, WRX bonnet, and the tail-lights, as well as a sub in the boot, Sony X-Plod amp, and a Pioneer head unit.

Quickly became tired of the side-trim so that was removed. I wanted to go for something that looked like it was a factory special, and not a kitted-up family sedan.

Tail-lights were the next to go. Was chasing a set of STi tail-lights but settled for a OEM set from the wreckers. I was amazed at how much better the car looked with just one in!

After that came a set of WRX Rear-spats (or valances or whatever you want to call them). Managed to install them without removing the bumper or jacking up the car, but it did take an hour... wasn't anticipating the steel plates blocking the screwdriver access.

This is how the car stands today. I did some light panel work (admittedly not very well, but better than the dinted & warped panels I replaced). Plans include some WRX sideskirts, WRX Springs and Swaybars, WRX Bumper (or front lip), and maybe a turbo/light engine work in a few years once I get a little money and experience up. Just trying to clean up the car's imperfections and turn it into something decent.

You've done well so far, so have no doubt you'll get it to where you want soon enough

Welcome to the forums and nice work with sorting out those tail lights!

Looks like it could lose some height as well

Certainly on the cards! I think WRX springs are lower, so I'll go with them (I know where to get a set for $20, and they aren't crapped out)... I need to get the guards rolled on the rear though, because I'm running 215's all 'round and they scrape the bodywork when I have a few people/weight in the back.

Welcomes.
