Definitely shop around for insurance, I found GIO hideously expensive, I'm 32 and they still wanted a grand a year! Didn't even tell them about the mods! Went RAC, never looked back, sorry about the off topic, welcome to Perth WRX.com

Welcome mate, i'm currently 17 and what insurance wanted for me in my wrx was ludacris. A parent/gaurdian having the car in their name would make a significant difference, try to convince the folks and they may eventually come around (i was never suppose to buy a turbo car). Or else sleeper foz would be very cool. Look forward to meeting you
Yer I got my licence on my 17th so off p's at my 19th I'm with gio full comp and I've Allready got a full no claims when I was trying for a wrx they said sorry noone under 25 is insurable by us in this model of car try just car and they were 2500 a year which on top of running my car is a lil out of apprentice wages
well im 19 and im on apprentice wages yet i can still afford to own a WRX (and no my parents do not give me any money) my insurance is through just car and that covers all of my mods too

also having the insurance in your parents name doesnt always make it cheaper, some companies (just car) base the premium on the age of the youngest driver, regardless of how often they drive it
