I have a friend looking for a wrx with the same requirements as you and have informed them to look for an 09 or 10 plated vehicle.
The 09+ range had several improvements over the 08 and I would recommend trying to get one instead, reasons being:
  • STI spec turbo (VF-52) compared to the TD04
  • higher flowing exhaust
  • uprated suspension components (e.g. spring rates)
  • few minor cosmetic tweaks
  • nicer looking rims

Hopefully you manage to find what you are looking for

Edit: couple of MY09 hatchs for sale on car sales around the $30k mark.
