Tune does not change over the life of the vehicle.

Only when you want to change something on the engine or push the boost higher do you need a retune.

So you still dont get it then.

You only need to get a "retune" if you have changed something, ie. exhaust, turbo, intake, intercooler etc...

Exactly... There is no need to retune unless you have added or removed modifications that will affect the tune!

So in this case, it will be fine to leave it as is until you decide to spend some more coin and add some new go-fast bits!

Tunes over time can detoriate as things wear.
Like every 100k kms or so
Your bound to have had to replace bits and pieces over time anyway, not all directly related to the tune, but they do all add up and can impact. From throttle body solienoids to replacing exhaust sections and swaping bovs.
But each to their own.

Mines due for a retune....when i have some spare $$
Shes not drastically needing it, even tho its running a very old (many kms) tune,
More a desirable thing to save fuel/run smoother and produce its optimum

This is wrong, like stated above, if you're using the factory ECU, there is no need to get a tune unless you change something.
The factory ECU has a learning function built into it, so it makes small adjustments to fuel and ignition to compensate for aging components. By your logic, every fuel injected car on the road would need to be tuned every few years, which obviously does not happen.
Its called long term fuel trim, and learned ignition timing.

Yes and no.
STi's usally get driven pretty hard, hills runs and stuff, componets of the car are more than likely going to need replacing.

Like some of the utes and shit on the station, like the f250, needs retune every couple hundred thousand, same with our trucks that have hit millon+ ks
Even with a 200 series cruiser...which has done over the 70,000km warrenty limit, so it has just sat in the shed in pieces for months bcos toyota wont fix computer, and everything else the ecu screwing up, has fucked, like the gbox.
Any thing that experiance exessive wear/harsh condtions, over long periods of time(+100,000kms) will break shit, replace with new stuff with no wear yada yada yada...

Normally passenger cars generally dont experiance this problem, bcos
They have a very timid tune to start with
Are driven 'normally' on 'normal' roads
And have hard wearing hardwear, and simply do not have the output

Lol My 2€

Shit... If that is the case, I'd better send my Lady Gaga CD back in for re-programming as I have been blasting that shit too much.

The 1's and 0's must have changed and it could be turning into a Nickelback CD without me even knowing!
