Thanks for all the updates guys, my toys in the car tell me that the radar is a "Poliscan" unit when I drive past.

Pretty sure it was mentioned somewhere that it was a poliscan unit. think maybe in the other thread.

It's a Poliscan.

No revenue raising at all here either ... 20000 by a minimum of $75 per fine equals 1.5 Million in days???

lat/long accuracy is irrelevant, the system uses a totally different method to calculate speed over ground.

"GPS receivers typically calculate velocity by measuring the frequency shift (Doppler shift) of the GPS D-band carrier(s).

Velocity measured by a GPS is inherently 3 dimension, but consumer GPS receivers only report 2D (horizontal) speed on their readout. Garmin's specifications quote 0.1mph accuracy but due to signal degredation problems noted above, perhaps 0.5mph accuracy in typical automobile applications would be what you can count on."

.5 mph = 0.804672 kph pretty accurate no?
Most GPS receivers used for navigation only use the L1 phase carrier band and actually used a predictive algorithm to predict speed, direction and routes...

I wouldn't trust GPS receivers for accurate speed checking.

If in doubt, go get your speedo calibrated.

And even after shooting it, it was still operational? Talk about maximum effort for no reward.
