Took the plunge..
Hey guys, been lurking for a few weeks absorbing as much as a I can. I knew nothing until I found this place so thanks for the awesome community!
When I was a teenager I went down with the old man to pick up his new MY99 WRX. Loved that car, many, many fun times and memories had. 12 years and 263,347km later they were about to trade it in to get something more sedate and comfortable. I think you can see where this is going... So I took a (big) gamble, sold the nice new car that I bought a few years back (Cruze) but never really liked much or got attached to, paid out my loan and bought the WRX off him with the change. I'll be using this as a daily. It's doubtless going to cost me somewhere between what the car is worth and what I would have paid in loan repayments over the next few years to own it. Would like to keep it as long as it is viable. Probably not the most sensible decision I've ever made but damn it's hard to get the smile off my face when I'm anywhere near that car It's as stock as the day it come out of the factory. It's been serviced often, never been tracked and never really been thrashed by normal Rex standards. Most of the k's on the clock were done cruising in 5th around the South West and the Freeway - so I'm hoping to get a bit more life out of it yet. Things I've learned so far: Boost is addictive BP Ultimate is Expensive Demerit points are finite Labour is expensive I know nothing about mechanical toys (I'm a software guy) Plans:
Probably not going to touch much else on it until something breaks. Happy to be told otherwise but I don't really see the point in modifying an Engine with so many k's on it (dak dak boom..). I'm thinking that its better to save my cash and just replace the engine if/when it goes and look at some more mods then. Also its fast enough for my driving skills at the moment - any faster and I'm going to hurt the car or its going to hurt me. Anyway - Hi! P.s Anybody got a good solution to this? |

would be awesome to buy the families WRX after owning it from new.
Carbon wrap the roof, cheaper and will look good on silver, buy a punch and bash those bearings out the old fashioned way :P welcome to Perth-WRX |

Yeah pretty awesome - unless I damage it and then I'll never hear the end of it!
Got talked into the Cruze after having a bunch of unreliable cars at uni. Feels good to be back in a drivers car. |

The tint will be due to a felt strip on the inside of the doors - been told the same thing after just getting tints.
New ones are too exxy. Welcome.

If you're a DIY sort of person, then sandpaper, a can or two of primer, and the same of satin black spray paint should sort it out. One piece of advice should you choose to do it; take the trims off the car. I did this...
...and ended up taking two strips of paint off the car where the tape was. Not fun fixing that one up! Could always get your existing ones painted (like if you get the roof done) or find some 2nd hand ones in good condition if that's not your thing. |
