STi 06
Hi All,
Just bought a new STi 06 and have recently put a 3inch exhaust from the turbo on it but the turbo is spiking above what the computer will allow. So put a bleed vavle on and solved the problem for a while but it went above 18psi again, what happens is the enigne cuts out for a second. I really dont want to turn the boost down again! I want it faster!!! Will an eboost2 chip solve my problems? Anyone got any other ideas? Has anyone had this problem? Cheers, Jaron |

Personally i wouldn't go playing around with bleed valves. Take the car for a remap and it should sort out your problems (assuming you have no leaks from either intake or exhaust)
ECUTEK is probably your best bet, i believe there are a few places around Perth that can do this for you. |

Remove The Manual Bleed.
Get it tuned too, adding extra boost without monitoring AFR's is pretty hairy.. might be in for a new engine if you are not too careful. If you wanna go down that route for faster.. get a wideband, and edit the boost table accordingly and fueling to ensure its nice and rich up top end for safety sake. |

APC. I dont think it is their fault at all though they did a good job and I would recommend them. Its the setup of the new computers in the STi. They have been back and forth numerous times with Subaru.
The bleed valve worked and just needs to be turned down slightly again to solve the problem because it did it in 5th at about 6000rpm so thats when the turbo would be working the hardest, but my problem is I want a faster car and don't want to have to turn the boost down. |

OK.
You want to go faster but you don't want to turn boost down. Do you want to fork out for an engine rebuild, too? You will need to if you use china-spec shit like a bleed valve. You have just spent in excess of $60,000 dollars on a new car and you want to cut corners like that? That's plain stupid if you ask me Get yourself down to Maximum Motorsport in Malaga and discuss an EcuTeK tune with them.

Haha yeah I have seen a spanking EVO 7/8 WRX getting springs chopped in a workshop awhile back, I cant see why you cant spend $400 on springs when you have just bought a 45K car.

The bleed valve is only to control the extra boost the exhaust has caused. I agree it is shit but it was the only option given to me, Subaru couldn't even tell me what I should do or how to fix it.
In hine site I wished I had of joined this site sooner and I wouldnt have let them put the valve on the car, I just wanted the bloody thing fixed! I will be taking the car to Steve this week to sort this out, he has already suggested eboost2 and a better fuel pump but a few of you guys have said EcuTek so I will talk to him about that as well! |
