Default Offroadish?

Hey guys, just thought I'd say hi, been browsing for ages now and thought I'd finally let you all know I'm here.

The wheels -
Proud owner of a 2002 Impreza RX, 2.0 non turbo engine pumping out a massive 90 odd KW. I realise my car is never going to be "fast" so I've steered well clear of the "street spec" route and have decided to go down the "offroad/rally spec" route.

So far I have fabricated my own skid plate for the front end, made from galvanised steel. I don't expect it to take a hit, just want it there to stop rocks, mud, sand etc. from getting all up in there. I have also added front and rear strut braces(ebay), and have noted a remarkable difference from the rear brace and no difference from the front, but what else can you want for $130 shipped straight from Taiwan. Also in the post at the moment is a 1" lift from Subtle Solutions. 1" in the front and 1+3/8" in the rear, should make a little bit of a difference without going down the forrester struts route.

The owner -
20 years old, the previous car was a 1992 CC Lancer, 1.5L Carby, was absolutely bullet proof. I could do 80kmh in 2nd gear and go straight to 5th from 2nd. Dropped out of uni and is now in the business of mineral processing.
Knows next to nothing about cars but over the last 6 months has learnt a lot.

Look forward to hearing from you all and have enjoyed reading all the shenanigans you have all gone through with your scoobies.

Cheers

Mitch

The lift kit should be here in the next few days, next week at the latest. That will be a good solid days work.

@Pimpreza

Your car is my inspiration, if I had the technical knowledge I would definitely be going down the same path as yourself.

@steve-lang

Haha when I purchased this car I wasn't really into the whole "car modding" thing. Boy how that has changed in the last 6 months. As soon as I pay off this car I will be going to the bank and telling them I want a WRX and they have to give me some money

Main thing you need is a viscous rear diff (cheap & fairly easy swap) yours is more than likely open, do that and it'll follow most Foresters.
