helloooo from Brunei! xD
hello all rexters!
finally manage to join this community after all these times xD My name is Jason and I'm from this small country in South East Asia called Brunei Darussalam, you may have heard of it as there seem to be a lot of Brunei students studying in Perth. Well, as you may gather from the 'name', let me 'introduce' myself a bit more... Im a full time banker/accountant, currently taking my ACCA part-time..part-time mechanic a FULL time scooby enthusiast. My current ride is a bit of a mix-match... originally its a JDM STi vr3 ...then it had an engine transplant for a vr5 EJ207... even recently still, after a mere 2k after an oil change, it blew its big-end bearings... so, what did I do? well, my options were to either get a replacement vr5 engine, or a total rebuilt...or ....? as money didnt grow on my backyard trees...i took another option...as a vr7 internals were almost identical to a vr5, i manage to hook up with a jdm vr5, pulled it apart so as just to take the shortblock and mated it with my broken (but not out) vr5. this was due to all of the upgraded items on the vr5 ie. higher camshaft, 720cc injectors among others. i only needed to replace the 'middle part' .. after a looonngggggggggggg 2 months of work and miltiple trips to the workshp, the 'rebuild' came through xD and there it stands, a hybrid of vr3 body (front end, side skirt & bumper conversions..I still have the high vr8 bonnet scoop, to be installed...) with a vr5/7 engine... ej207 vr5/7 (P&P headers, NGK 6) vf35 (P&P but stll at OEM position) hks 3" tbe hks 4" tip gold racing muffler sard FPR Apexi PFC Apexi FMIC Blitz bov Blitz SBC R dual boost controller K&N intake Autobhan 88 intake hoses samco hoses cusco rollbars cusco oil catch tank Apexi grounding kit with battery @bonnet topping it off with an STi blue grill emblem (for good measure lol) my baby...my pride & joy, rebuilt after sweet, blood & tears... I think most of you guys could share 'that' feeling of finally starting that boxer engine after a while and listening to that oh-so-sweet exhaust rumble...and and and ....whats this?! it sounds DIFFERENT??!! After all that hardwork for all that time, apparantly 'somebody' had tweaked with the fuel pressure regulator, setting it to the bare minimum AND all the map in the Apexi PFC had been initialized??!!?? shock and horror!! the 'original' tune was from 2 years ago. As Brunei is such a small nation, we have no tuners to name. We have a japanese tuner from HKS japan coming down mybe once every 2 years and my map was not saved...and now its gone! totally gone! imagine how anybody would feel...now im constantly changing my ign/inj correction everytime b4 starting the rex but still its only minimal...its runnning less than 50% of its true potential and the fuel economy....is terrible...too rich i say...looks like a scooby diesel with all that black smoke from the exhaust... |

Welcome. Awesome build but quite sad about the tune. Hopefully someone ends up in your area so you can get it tuned ASAP.
