My MY99 wrx is running a 3 inch turbo back exhaust, bigger fuel pump along with vf28 STi turbo. Stock ECU. She runs schweet!!! Personally, I think no tuning is required other than make sure you have decent spark plugs and leads. Your stock STi ecu should be able to self learn the changes with just an exhaust.

So yours is running like that with no tune?

Or you didn't see a difference after you had it tuned?

Or you can't tell the difference as you've never had yours tuned?

Definitely tune that ecu after the mods...big difference imho!

Not required on GC's, ECUs self learn and can handle intakes, coolers, exhaust etc without tunes...

Darken, consider a v5/6 STi ecu swap they came factory with a vf28

wow nice...only later years ecu then that can't handle the mods

But you cant tune a GC8 ECU like you can a GD. They have to buy an aftermarket ecu if they want to custom tune.

Gd&gr ecu can also handle the basic mods with evu self learning. But has anyone tested boost spiking, fuel consumption, misfiring etc with stock map and those mods?

Yeah Davidsdh, he's got a tbe and few other little things. Occasionally boost spikes and cels. Fuel milage is on par with my tuned Sti.

How much spike does it make? No misfiring at high rpm? Cheers.

Cool.

Has anyone tried shorten boost controller/solinoid's vacumn hose(increase sensitivity) to reduce spiking?

Hi guys just an update on my car. Last week I had the following mods installed by ASG:
3" Hitech TBE
Process West CAI
Powerfc ecu and tune
Walbro 255lh fuel pump

I'm pretty happy with the way the car drives now. The power increase is quite noticeable and the sound of the CAI is to die for. The Hitech exhaust sounds perfect and I have the classic boxer rumble I was after. The following is my dyno chart:
