hey Guys,
my name is Gareth and have recently bought a 02 bug eye hatch wrx. I am loving the car at the moment but it did keep getting boost spikes nd fuel cut off at least once every drive. I did some homework and found out someone had removed the restrictor pill, fuck knows why.
I have fitted a turbosmart boost gauge and mbc with the boost set at 15psi, had no issues since.
I think next I want to purchase front/rear strut bars and book it in for a tune at evolution r

Welcome mate , nice work figuring out the restrictor pill many wouldn't even know. Before dropping some money on a tune with the age of the car if it hasn't been done id be looking at fitting at least a walbro fuel pump and making sure timing belt was done at the correct interval . If thats all good tune away should net some positive results.
Enjoy the forum and welcome again

Thanks a lot guys , yes the timing belt was done 20,000 k's ago, so guessing all is good there, it does have a 3 inch TBE but the top pipe is standard and have been recommended to have it changed b4 it destroys my turbo.
Subaru's are a new learning curve for me as im used to working on my ex Nissan pulsar turbo, but am loving the grip and take off of the wrx but below 2000rpm feels very laggy nd ive heard the gearboxs cant handle to many 5000rpm clutch drops lol

If you've put a mechanical boost controller to fix the pill issue, I suggest you replace the pill
Pill is there for a reason

Hey guys,
I have seen advertised a silicone intake hose for a wrx 98-00 , does that mean that it wont fit my 01 wrx ?
There is also a SS up-pipe for a 02 wrx will that fit my 01 ?
Sorry for all the questions but am trying to save a little money nd dont want to buy the wrong stuff.

Welcome, 01-04 wrx's are mechanically identical, it was just the face lift for 03-04. Not a 100% sure about the earlier intake hose though.

Just a quick update.
I bought mysels a SS up pipe nd will be putting that on this weekend, I also got myself a cusco front strut bar nd slso a H brace, don't know if it will make much difference to the car but I love it when new toys arrive, its like adult christmas lol.
Still saving for a CAI , Walbro fuel pump nd then on for a tune, need to save a few more pennies yet lol
