Needed a second car to cart kids around (been riding a road bike for last 6 years) and wasn't going to ride around in a bunky 4 or 6 cylinder and always wanted a rex so purchased an MY99 with a few small mods last week.

The other car has 8 cylinders and apparently it's the wifes haha

Enjoying the little machine, plenty of power, sounds good and drives well.

Couple mods are - turbo back exhaust, STI suspension (lowered) and STI 5sp transmission, ECU (I need to check if this was a re-program or an STI ECU), blow off valve.

First time with this type of car so still trying to learn about them as much as I can. Not like my SSV which I know inside out from 20 years with nothing but Holdens.

Apparently the ECU wasn't re-programmable in the MY99 but I've read a few people have done it so interested to know if they are programmable or not. Also keen to find out why I can't talk to the OBD-2 device in the car. took the one from my SSV and it won't talk to the programs even though I can connect to the device. I have a feeling it may not be ODB-2 or the language in the car is just too frigging old. I like the fact I can talk to the car on my ipad or iphone and see what's happening but can't seem to get it working.

My main ride for last 6 years is my 06 ZX6R LE, the car I pay for but the wife gets to have is an 2012 SSV-Z and my new ride is the MY99 WRX
