Talking New WRX Owner

G'day guys and gals!

My name's Leon and I've owned my WRX for a few months now but recently decided to join the forums and get more involved with the community.

Going back in time a bit, I bought a 2003 Lancer coupe for my first car and straight away felt like it was missing something. After about a year of owning it, I sold it for a profit and started saving up for something with a bit more power.

So after a couple months of saving up, I bought a 1999 WRX. I originally had plans to buy a 2004 WRX for the sexy blobeye shape but the best deal I could find was $9,500 for a clean example and I wanted to have money left over for mods and other things, so instead I went with a GC8.

Back to the present, I'm really happy with my car and looking forward to modding it soon. It came with a catback exhaust (not sure which) and a 3" muffler which sounds pretty good without being annoyingly loud or droning on highways. The wheels are also new (haven't looked into which ones they are, maybe someone can tell me) and the tires were brand new when I bought it. The interior is immaculate and the original paint is great. The only thing I've done to it so far is put an Alpine sound system in and tune it.

I would like some suggestions for good mods to do to it. I was thinking of putting an STi spoiler on, a few engine mods and a re-tune.

tl;dr: Guy got a GC8 WRX and likes it. Suggest him good mods.

Cheers cobbas, can't wait for your responses.

hi Leon

imo, the original spoiler you have looks the best on a gc8 and doesn't draw as much attention. Get the larger sti spoiler i guess if you like the look.

Engine mods usually bang for your buck on a gc8 as far as performance: Turbo back exhaust. Bigger turbo, Vf34 is regarded as a nice street turbo. Larger top mount intercooler, something from a GD series sti. More free flowing air filter, like say a dry apexi panal filter.

As far as retuning on gc8's afaik an after market computer like a apexi power fc will do the job well.

You may also want to consider handerling like coilovers, swaybars ect

Good luck and im sure others can chime in or add thier suggestions

Welcome.

Regarding the wheels, they look like Ultrex RS Golds.

Cheers for your replies.

Red dragon, I think you're right about the wing and the suggestions for mods are great also. Once I get save a bit more cash, I'll look into them.

Thehowlfactor, those are the ones. Thanks

I dont think they are ultrex rims. They look almost like Prodrive gc010e.

RussGT, there we go! I wasn't sure if I should mention it, but mine have a lip at the back of each spoke which the Ultrex RS Golds don't and also the thicker outer ring. They're nice wheels.

Prodrive rims are awesome!

Nice car. I would look at getting the sideskirts, mirrors and handles colour coded. You can pm BigO for a price. He is really good.
