Default New member, 08 STI

Hi forum goers,
Just bought a new to me 08 STI Spec-R. I bought the car two months ago, but I got backed into after two days purchase and its been a trial with AAMI to get the repairs completed. Its finally back, Yokohama Advan Sport V105 put on and its booked in at STechnic next week for a service and investigate some issues. Thanks for all the info available on here, great resource.

I have had some milder cars in the past, Renault Sport Clio 182, Mitsubishi FTO and two Preludes, all that FWD! I was sold on the car soon as boost kicked in and how planted it feels through corners.

I am SOR, commute on the Kwinana regularly. I'll wave as I start to notice others about.

Here she is in all her glory. Stock BBS wheels, Perrin rear spoiler lift kit installed by previous owner.

Dip stick level has not dropped, but that's only within a few days since I had it back from panel beaters. Time will tell, You know some history?

Yeah, 08 STI's seem to suffer from ring land failure, and seem to consume oil. Google it, it's everywhere. Let me/us know how it goes!

Aye I researched this, I know it has had the reworked tune that Subaru released after all the issues surfaced. Apparently many of these issues resulted from bad tuning and associated detonation. It doesn't have any of the symptoms that have been described on other forums that I can find. An excuse to go forged in the future maybe

A good read for ya.

http://www.vikingspeedshop.com/how-a...ur-wrx-or-sti/

Get a ELM327 OBD adapter, and download 'Torque' app (for andriod), then download "knock detector" plugin for 'Torque". So u can monitoring knocking whenever u want.

Best $20 mods u can have.
