Brods 09 narrowbody

Finally after about 4 registration attempts I can post! (Stupid hotmail)

Hi guys my names Brodie and I've just purchased an 09 wrx.

No pics yet but here's a few details.

Current:

White
Leather
Sunroof
Full TBE (norm butler)
55,000 kms
Unsure who/if tuned. Will be throwing it on a dyno ASAP to check afr's.
Owner has sprayed stock wheels yellow which looks horrendous!

Have already ordered all the vinyl bits to replace the ugly chrome boot and window surrounds.

Will be ordering:

Rota titans 17x8 +42 in matte black
Ultrex lip
Ultrex VG
Epic springs
White line f+r sways

Mods will come gradually as I've just finished building a house and saving for Europe for xmas!!

Look forward to going on some cruises!

Welcome. Glad to hear the yellow wheels and chrome trims will be seeing the bin.

There are a few of G3 owners around here now, so plenty of build threads etc to get information from. Throw up some pictures when the horrendous wheels have been removed :)

Nice welcome! I think i saw that car for sale did it have west-coast eagles plates ?

ahahha yeah, I saw those wheels :tard:

Brodz 05-05-2015 01:33 PM

Yeh mate had eagles plates. They traded it to a dealer before I could buy it private so ended up paying a bit more.

I saw the one you recently bought at Ozzie park as well[emoji1]

ahahah no shit ay small world :icon_supe ....

check my thread out of my 09 and how it's changed since the last time you probably saw it. Not much performance upgrading yet it is my first car after all but down the road.

TROLLEY 05-05-2015 02:10 PM

Welcome. One suggestion - get 18's!
17 inch aftermarket wheels look horrendously small in the G3 arches. Well done for choosing a sensible offset though.

ALLPAWS 05-05-2015 02:15 PM

17's are lighter but aside from looking a bit small they will limit your brake upgrade options if that is something u r considering down the line.

Brodz 05-05-2015 02:44 PM

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'm not really into the 18's look, I like a bit of chunky tire[emoji23]

Plus I'm getting black wheels without a lip so that always makes them look bigger as opposed to a dished wheel

These are 17's and I think they look ok?

Let me know if pic didn't work [emoji106]

If it tickles your pickle get 17s and if your not worried about braking, stick to them

Most of us like 18's

what tires size are you going be running on those 235 or 245?

TROLLEY 05-05-2015 03:14 PM

Nothing wrong with 17's to be honest. Better than rocking 19's on fucking elastic bands and completely rooting your handling. Would look better if you lower it though (says me, who has not lowered... but I have a lip kit all the way 'round).

Brodz 05-05-2015 03:24 PM

Definitely 100% with you there on lowering.

Can't stand aftermarket rims with massive fender gap!

Can you tell me what common brake upgrade people do that dont fit under 17's? Alot less inertial mass of 17" rim to slow down than an 18" rim too BTW.

They look pretty sweet.

I have 18 x 8 enkei imolas with +50 offset on mine. Wish i had a better offset that pushed em out a bit further.

Are you referring to brembos ?

I didn't mean anything was wrong with 17s at all by all means are way lighter and put as less strain on the calipers because of mass that you mentioned.

Like allpaws i was talking about down the road, I worded that wrongly in that post ^ what I meant was to say do what makes you happy

If going 17's worries u for looks . . .

I also like a bit of chunk with my tyres, make sure u don't cheap out on them tho!

TROLLEY 05-05-2015 09:20 PM

^^yeh, best rim to get if going 17's
Almost got those myself. Well, ROTA versions.

Brodz 06-05-2015 11:49 AM

Just had a run at evo-r. Afr's check out however only made 235hp at the wheels @15psi.
So a retune is on the cards [emoji2]

Installed boost gauge tonight.
Just a cheap turbo smart one, running the vac line was easy. The real challenge was finding which wire was illumination. (Violet) [emoji1]

Looks good.

My OCD doesn't agree with the gangsta sideways direction of the gauge though.

Little teaser pic.

The continentals are so meaty. Looks like lowering might be an issue.

TROLLEY 06-06-2015 04:38 PM

18's?

Brodz 06-06-2015 04:51 PM

Yeh bud.

18x8 +42

235/40/18

nick73 06-06-2015 07:34 PM

^^Smash some camber in there bro, it's all good.

JRecardo 07-06-2015 12:35 AM

I have 18x8.5 +44 rims with 235/40/18 tyres and have no issues with some moderate lowering. I did get some rubbing when throwing it around on a skid pan but a subtle raise on the front and I was fine. Narrowbody also.

[url=http://imgur.com/UEHKpN6][img]http://i.imgur.com/UEHKpN6l.jpg[/img][/url]

I'll be trying a 245 tyre next change.

Stock for the STi is 245/40/18 on 8.5 inch. I am surprised that these wouldn't fit and clear with some slight camber.

Sti has flaired arches no?

They will fit, I just thought I would have more play.

SolarFilms 07-06-2015 11:00 AM

Awesome i didnt know we could fit 245/40/18 on narrow body's

Ideally i wanted 245/35/18 for less rolling diameter difference but that be a nightmare on rims especially mine :(

Kremer930 07-06-2015 01:36 PM

I run 265/35/18 on my sti hatch. No really issues.

nick73 07-06-2015 02:16 PM

^ What wheel and specs.

Kremer930 07-06-2015 06:56 PM

Just Rota T2R 18x9.5-38 with S1 evo 265/35/18. The wheels are a bit heavy but they were great value at $800 new.

The factory R spec BBS looked like pizza cutters after putting some camber and alignment through the car.

Stops any kind of shopping trolley style too.

TROLLEY 07-06-2015 07:26 PM

Any pics Kremer? Love the T2R's...

nick73 07-06-2015 07:39 PM

You need any guard work for that??

Jacob92 07-06-2015 08:05 PM

I have 245/40 r18 on my foz can test fit if you want to

using the Perth-WRX mobile app

Kremer930 07-06-2015 08:56 PM

Guards part rolled and very slight pull at the rear. The main issue I have is actually the fronts due to the castor settings moves the wheels well forward in the arches.
