Trying to keep it as stock looking as possible. Will likely raise the suspension a little for the country roads I frequent and for the occasional rally (here's to hoping I don't break it! The AWD drives very different to a RWD)

Mods: VF29, 3" TBE, FMIC, Unichip. Crappy pod filter intake (will change when I get a chance). Dunno what fuel pump it's got but it's LOUD so I'm guessing it's a Walbro or something.

FMIC?
I'd potentially be putting that on the list of things to revert back to stock

If the FMIC is already on the car, it runs good, fits nicely and has already had the bumper cut to fit then may as well keep it on there. The biggest hassle of getting a FMIC is getting one to fit and having to cut up the car to fit it.

Going back to a GC8 TMIC would be going backwards in performance, however if you do plan on going back to TMIC then get a GD STI TMIC (and a retune possibly).

I have certainly been considering it. Sure, the intake temps won't be as low, but the lag should be less and then I could fit a factory airbox in the engine bay easily again. Hopefully less attention too!

Without a post-turbo intake air temperature sensor, I wouldn't think these cars would run more aggressive timing with lower intake temps anyway - the performance gains are really all down to the more dense air charge - and the protection the lower temperature offers as well of course.

Welcome. Are you in WA or QLD?
You've got the front mount already… so that's an excuse to get a bigger turbo!

Haha.. The VF29 is already so laggy compared to my other turbo cars (and yet they have more top end power too so clearly I need to get this thing tuned better. Darn 1998 models and their annoying ECUs...). Don't wanna go any bigger..

Then again, maybe the car is just flogged and has low compression! But it doesn't use any oil that I've noticed yet. I'd have done a compression test already if it wasn't so darn hard to access the spark plugs

Have given it its first piece of defence against roos: a light bar

I know some of you might cry that I've wrecked it.. but seriously, if you hit roos like we do out here, I can assure you that a WRX with a light bar looks better than a WRX with a smashed up front.
