Awesome. Good to see people still doing motor builds.
Interesting looking at the CDB plate. The case bolt holes look offset from where they would be normally. I guess to give better support to the cylinder.

Not the head studs. The holes that let you access the case bolts. The reason you close deck a block in the first place is because these access notchs in tge water jacket for the case bolts are so close to the cylinder wall that they actually weaken the cylinder wall. Whenever a cylinder cracks on a subaru, its always right where the case bolt access ways are.
Look at case bolt acess holes in this CDB for example. The ones on your head have alot more meat between the cylinder and the hole. More meat = more strength.
