Default I must really be getting old when....

For those that know me yes I am pushing the years out a bit now but what the hell is the world coming to?

14yo and his yob mates steal a car (or find a stolen car running with doors open will prob be the excuse.) Presumed under influence of drugs n alcohol.
Decide best idea will be to lap Kings Cross in stolen car.
Get spotted by cops in said "stolen" car.
Decide best way to escape.....why drive on the foot path of course.
Run a person over and pin them under the car, but don't stop...see if can still loose the cops hey?

HAVE A SOOK WHEN FOR NO GOOD REASON THE PIGS PUT A COUPLE OF ROUNDS INTO YOU!! WTF?

Personally I'd argue reasonable force. I'm sure the girl under the car would argue same. Bleeding hearts want an investigation into the cops.......

What about investigation into the parents and the "community" they're from who seem to think drunk 14yo's have a right to run people over on a footpath in a stolen car at 4am?

I'm beginning to think I'm loosing my mind when I keep hearing this crap.

End old person rant.

Public hangings, they need to re-introduce them.

Another old person with you all the way, back in the olden days I knew a cop in Port Hedland they called D9 (dozer) Coons would be dropped about 20k's out of town with a hiding and white boys were offered a punch or the fine but also a great guy, I remember watching drop a burnout for about 300m in the blue Valiant cop car..........He was a proper cop.

I must be old too then, because I agree.

[FLAME SUIT]
Like the cops who accidentally killed the mother in Morley the other day. One has been stood down pending investigation. Had they not given chase and waited until the go ahead was given (they had requested permission 30second earlier) they would have lost the car. What are they supposed to do? Pull over and wait for permission? Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I can tell you right now, that intersection has LOADS of clear visibility. Had the lady driving been paying attention and not gasbagging to her daughter in the passenger seat (and most likely looking at her intead of the road / glancing around the intersection as she passed) she may have seen the cop car, with lights and sirens on coming from her right hand side. It was a patrol 4x4 ffs, bit hard to miss! Just speculation, maybe this wasn't the case, but we'll never know I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for her, and its a terrible terrible accident, but I don't think the cops should be held at fault. They have to do their job, their job is to catch criminals, sometimes, there is collateral damage... sadly in this case, a life was lost, and it's not a fair trade off over a stolen car, but like I said, accidents happen every day!
[/FLAME SUIT]

Would be so hard to be a cop, no wonder so many of them leave the force

Totally agree with this point of view, but haven't bothered voicing my opinion due to everyone I talk to about the accident whines about how the cops are always at fault. Also, don't know all the details, wasn't there, etc...

I know you have your flame suit on but with all due respect speak about someone who has just passed away with a bit more respect than making assumptions on their behalf suggesting that they were gasbagging to their daughter and most likely not looking at the road. A number of witnesses where forthcoming stating that there were no police lights nor sirens activated, so I would not be making comments until an investigation has been undertaken and the TRUE facts are known.

Just my 2cents anyway, not having a go just think that someone whos life was taken in tragic circumstances deserves a bit more respect than others making assumptions as to what happened.

In regards to the incident in Sydney well this is a problem that is not going away until Juvenile penalties are given a full overhaul. These little fucks need to be taught a good and proper lesson after they commit their first offence not simply a slap on the wrist and let off to do the same thing over and over and over again.

I'm going to be a bit biased here as I teach the poor girl who lost her Mother, but unless we were in the car we really don't know what sections of road were visible and just how quickly the Police car headed into the intersection. It was nothing more than a freak and unfortunate accident. I do agree with Kym however that placing the blame of Police is a bit too easy and a complete knee-jerk reaction.

i agree with that, send them to iraq, afghanistan instead
you want to be a tough nut? bored?
see how you handle some nutter shooting at you or trying to blow you up

and the parents...maybe not all parents are at fault but.....

I think the cops didn't use reasonable force.
Reasonable in this case would have included a few hundred more rounds of ammunition
