Will be good to see the white beast down there mate, it is a great event, best that I have done so far.

How does one go about getting involved? This and the WRX/Evo competitions also.

First thing would be to join the WRX owners club.
You need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club to get a CAMS license so you may as well be in the club that organises some of the events.
Look for upcoming events here, or the IWRXOC site, or rallywa.com or just ask the question on here. Plenty of the regulars on here compete and will give you advice.
The twilight rallysprints are an ideal even to try out tarmac rallying. It's the closest thing to a real rally, more intense than autokhana or track days. You get to take a passenger too.
Come to the next rallysprint and chat to some competitors and get a feel for it, I recomend it.
