Rally helpers needed Sat 16 Oct.
Guys, the organisers of the Safari Rally are in desperate need of helpers next Saturday. It's the final round of the State rally championship for the year and the closest rally to Perth as it's just up the hill in Mundaring/Chidlow.
They are mainly needing people to make sure no one strays onto the rally course, which means driving via the rally stage in convoy and stopping for the afternoon at a junction and spectating while making sure no bikes, walkers or 4WD enter the course during competition. It's easy to do, no experience necessary. Take a picnic lunch and a camera and enjoy the action. A normal road going car is all you require but no autosalon spec super low etc. You will get dusty, so if your girlfriend is a drama queen, don't take her. If you can help or need any more info give Wendy Walker a call on 0409 315 683 or send your contact info to me via PM or post questions in this thread. I reckon we can organise some rally rides at the "come and try" day at the end of the year for anyone who helps out. Cheers, Doug. |

Scotty, your XE is perfect for the job. You never know your luck you may even find an 'upgrade' EA abandoned in the bush out there!

Mainly in the afternoon, probably the early stages will be set around 11am I'm guessing. All except stage 1 are run twice, so you see the entire field through, then a break then they'll come past again. Then after the stage is re-opened you follow the officails out.
There are some freebies etc. Sometimes sponsors offer incentives to officials. Nothing special needed, just a car that you don't mind driving on a gravel rally stage, food and drink for the afternoon and maybe a camera and Aerogard. |

If you have an early finish (or a late start) they can accomodate you in a stage that's run early or late in the day to suit. I would expect that if you were in the first stage of the day that you would be all done by 3pm at the latest. Give Wendy a call and let her know your availability schedule and she will find a suitable position.
Thanks to all who have already volunteered, we've had a great response already. |

Yeah, I'm sure 3pm will be too late to get started in any of the stages. Thanks for the offer though.
