Default Targa Adelaide

Sad news from Targa Adelaide

"A driver has died in the Australian Targa Championship rally in southern Adelaide after a car hit a tree and rolled down an embankment.

The crash happened on Main Road at Chandlers Hill during the Clarendon stage of the rally.

The navigator in the vehicle has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, after the accident happened just after 1:00pm ACST.

Rally organisers and the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport have issued a statement, saying they are deeply saddened about the death and working with authorities as they investigate the circumstances.

In late 2009, two competitors died in another rallying event in South Australia when their car hit a tree at Forreston in the Adelaide hills."

Thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and competitors.

Unfortunately Adam Plate, has been named as the person who is now no longer with us

Hopefully the co-driver is back up and well soon.

Condolences to all involved.

Very sad indeed.
They were coming third in early modern at the end of day 1. Seems meaningless now.
