The Experts is short a few road closures for the event. If you can help or if you know of someone, please let the organisers know so they can start locking away officials into positions. This is the chance to have a private VIP spectator point in the forest and watch rally cars go flying by.
For those who have Registered, your pickup up point time and location will be sent out this weekend. Meet points will be in Collie from 11.30am through to 1.00pm. Finish time will be from early evening through to around 8.00pm Please call Linda Chesterfield NOW, before you forget, and come on down and be part of a great event. And don't forget the warm clothing. Linda Zero418 934 338 maxc01@bigpond.net.au

Top weekend.
We had a great rally in the white GC8, drove the car down there on Friday after work, good recci, refining pace notes from last year, roads in great condition. Back to service, to put the gravel tyres on, driver briefing and start. We drove at a solid pace without taking any risks, had no overshoots, although we did get a lot of air over one downhill crest, but the DMS soaked it up fine. We hardly touched the car in service, didn't even jack it up! We were pretty surprised to look at the times at the second service, to find we were second outright, about 90 sec behind Hynes, and 40sec in front of Herridge, with Doug, Lee and Dylan close behind.
We were a little nervous going into the night loop, as our two $150 halogen spot lights were dwarfed by the huge HID things on everyone else's bonnets. But we didn't drop too much time, and were stoked to get second outright at the end, and an Experts cup. Now we just need to find some coin, to replace the stock 5speed, and stock diffs, to get some more speed out of it. Wavey. |

Second that! A long day, vomit in car and no power steering. But we'll organised with really friendly/helpful people on time controls. And it was good to finally give all the guys a rally finish

Yeah, I suffered another time penalty, same thing happened to me in the ARC. Co-driver adds up time wrong and before you know it 2 mins penalty. Stage time we were equal with Dean Herridge for 3rd and Group N win but the penalty dropped us back to 6th. We really struggled early on sweeping the road of loose shit being car 2 but on the second and third run over the course there was better grip and pulled a heap of time back.

I upgraded my rear shafts since we broke one at Forest, more weight again! We weighed in at 1590kg without lights and almost empty of fuel. Minus crew of 145kg = 1445, one heavy group N car! |

Great photos Tim!
It was good to get back in the car. Rusty on pace notes, been nearly 2 years since we turned a wheel in anger on a rally and the first time since 2006 I've driven on the Collie stages. We nearly went off at the same corner Mick/Tracey rolled on. Sideways with both back wheels off the ledge heading toward the trees. We were lucky to get away with that one unscathed. Inst 5- SS2/SS5 video uploading to youtube as I type and pod cast review should be done by end of week. Top 7 places taken by WRX's, 1st & 2nd place by GC8's. Well done to Wavey/Curly on 2nd place, well driven to DT/Sharon and great to see Gav/Chris take a top 5 place and a finish.
