Default genuine twin scroll setups

Hey guys,

Looking to get some twin scroll headers for my setup when the time comes. This would be for a GT series turbo (i.e GT35R GT40R). Was wondering if a company makes these as a stock item? i know UR make them as a customer order (but LHD), but was seeing if anyone else make them and what there selling for.

Also does the position and length of the upipe determine the pulse. or is this all determined in the length of the runners that make up the header??

I have a rotated setup and thus want to keep it that way...

Thanks in advance

Does you GT turbo have twin entry? If it doesn't, which is what I suspect, you're wasting your time getting twin scroll headers to fit your current setup.

For a twin scroll setup to work correctly you need a twin scroll turbo with a matching twin scroll header.

What are twin scroll or divided inlet turbine housings? What are the benefits of using a twin scroll turbo?A "twin scroll" or "divided inlet" means that there are two separate volutes within the turbine housing. The main reason for doing this is to isolate the pulses coming from each exhaust port and maintain more of the pulse energy from each cylinder all the way down to the turbine wheel. There are no differences between the turbine wheels used in open or single inlet turbines compared to those used in twin or divided inlet turbines. Generally speaking, a divided inlet turbine setup will respond faster and produce boost quicker than single or open design of the same nozzle area, of course this is dependent upon proper execution. The simple fact that a divided housing is used does not guarantee these results. While it does not cause any problems or harm to run a divided inlet turbine housing on a manifold that is an "open" design, none of the benefits of the twin inlet will be seen.

If your new turbo is twin scroll try contacting APS regarding their rotated mount twinscroll kit, they use their split pulse headers with a special uppipe for the twin scroll kit.

Jonno u can buy a divided housing to make the GT35R twin scroll otherwise im looking at a GT40R which comes as a twin scroll.

Lewis APS wont sell the header unless u buy the whole kit, i.e turbo, etc etc.

GT-spec makes a true twin scoll and upipe, but thats for the stock location, now if i modify the upipe (as it comes as 2 pieces) will that affect the pulses coming into the turbo, removing the twin scroll affect and in fact turning the headers into equal length rather than twin scroll...

For a true twin scroll setup, the exhaust gasses are kept seperate all the way from the engine till the turbo exhaust outlet. aka the Vf36/37

Otherwise yes you are going to get exhaust pulse interferance....

Yeah thats what i was thinking, but no company that ive spoken to would confirm or deny that the pulse distance is important right up to the turbo. Hmm that makes it hard

There exactly what i want joe, but considering i have the turbo i dont want to fork out for a whole system, im sure it would be in the ball park of 5-6gs maybe even more. I might send them an email and see if they are just selling the header and upipe.

The factory sti twin scroll headers are pretty much on the money now-days are they not? Tomei and APS have just copied them...I havent done a heap of research into it but I would imagine for the flows your chasing with the GT35 and 40 something custom would be the go, maybe Garrett direct would be able to help?
