Default Impreza 2.0i Exhaust

Hey guys,

I don't know much about getting a custom exhaust for a stock standard Subaru Impreza 2.0i, so I have a few questions.

I've rang around some places and have been recommended a 2.5" full catback system, but I don't really know what that is.

One of my mates suggested just getting the muffler changed because all I want the change in exhaust for is the sound, and more importantly no change in fuel economy (call me a ricer).

So in a nutshell, if i just change the muffler/muffler tip will I get the low rumbling sound? That option is cheaper ($200-ish) than a full custom exhaust system ($850-ish).

Is getting the full custom exhaust system better for the car?

Is there anything else I need to know before I go out and make my choice?

Thanks in advance for any replies

good example that your after.. just minus the turbo part for your application
a catback would definately open up the boxer rumble. a muffler (or diff - back) will also do a decent job too... just shop around look at workshops/tuner in the mechanical section.

Waste of money spending $800+ on a custom system for an NA Impreza...your better off just getting a cheapo cat back with a cannon muffler if your looking for the noise, and be done with it.

Go there, go to the NA Impreza section, Search. You'll get an answer!

Hey BN01, Thanks for that link I have most of the information I was looking for now.

I think I am just going to go for a Magnaflow muffler + tip depending on cost at different workshops etc.

Thanks all for the replies
