Default exhaust steel pipe

i have heard that instead of buying a full on exhaust i can buy some pipe and then get it bent and fit etc. Does anyone know anything about this.

much cheaper and easier than getting a full exhaust done at any of the workshops. Includes a cat also.

Will end up costing you more in the end after you factor labour in, not to mention it'll be a "piece of pipe bent and fit" rather than a properly designed exhaust.
