Default bov and E.M

hey,

if u have some sort of engine management on your car, itll run fine regardless if you have a full venting or plumback right?
is there much power difference, if any, between using a full venting compared to plumback with management?

sorry if this topic has cropped up before, tried searching but cant find anything related.

Cheers
-Nick

No power difference. As for using a BOV on a car with a new aftermarket ECU. It depends on whether the new ECU still uses the AFM. If it does use the AFM, you will still get the negative side effects of using a full atmo BOV.

depending on what pressure your bov can hold pressure too, most clowns set there venting bovs so softly that they start venting slight as soon as they make boost.
best advise is to make sure your bov utilises a large diaphram and has any bleed's plugged so that it can hold much more pressure.

Don't want to go too tight as will cause too much turbo flutter....

I reckon you're always going to get a slight performance decrease when using a Atmo BOV on a standard ECU, when using the AFM, even with a 50/50 BOV.

This is because no matter how you look at it, even with some tuning, you're always going to be getting rid of some air from the loop which has been metered by the AFM. Losing some of this metered air, will cause your motor to run rich briefly after changes, not to mention decreased fuel economy.

I'm back to full plumb-back now, and i'm loving it.
