then the lady rang back and asked what rating they need to be.... and... I don't know (plus the WRX isnt with me atm)

what rating do i need?

thats the diff between 50 and 55? (dont say 5 - whats the variable for)

55 indicates the height is 55% of its width

more options in tyre with these charcteristics - 205/50/R16 - more variations in load rating etc, thats all.

205/50/16...load 87W is standard on all 16"GC8's

so theres no real difference in 205/55 and 205/50s?

205/55 have a sidewall height of about 113mm.

205/50 have a sidewall height of about 103mm.

So there is about 10mm difference between them.
