Default Tyre ratings?

I just rang up to get a price on some tyres for my 1998 wrx GC8.
205/55/r16

then the lady rang back and asked what rating they need to be.... and... I don't know (plus the WRX isnt with me atm)

what rating do i need?

55 indicates the height is 55% of its width

205/55 have a sidewall height of about 113mm.

205/50 have a sidewall height of about 103mm.

So there is about 10mm difference between them.
