Default She no start!

Hey guys,

Hopfully sumone can field a few questions. After getting my top mount disconnected and FMIC reconnected, i have had the scoup just open. Now this sounds like a cool idea for a cool day or what not, but last night i was at maddington metro and after driving it there wouldnt start. Waited for hours in the rain to get a toey and got her home.

$100 later after stopping for a BAG OF LEMON (for the love of god, a $100 bag of lemons) to have with my coronas, she wouldnt start.

This morning, she has started, sounds like sumthing got wet but what? Its idling at 800, 100 lower then usual. Its a Z32 AFM and i believe its second hand. The cold idle was fairly rough but like i said now, she is idleling smoothly but at 800rpm. My PowerFC shows knock being 25 when usually (i think from memory) its 12.

Any ideas, thanks fellas and gals

Eric

Water got into the ignition coils? Pretty rare seeing as they are quite well insulated against that but it would explain the symptoms.

Got wet last night. Didnt start. Dryed out over night. starts in the morning.

Check all electrical connections under the bonnet for exposure to water. Dry them up and find a way to shield them from rain or splashing or whatever.

I took it into ASG, they have it atm. Ummm i believe it could be a farked z32 AFM. Has the simular symptoms but im sure Sean will figure it out. Having my scoop open, would that rust, corrode or kill anything in my engine bay if water continues to get in?

We'll soon find out, spewin cause i organised a cruise for tomorrow, yet me car most likley will be out of action. Unlucky!

doubtful its the z32 AFM as they are very study AFMs. Unless your filter somehow sucked up a whole bunch of water.

So you reckon my Pod Filter has taken in moisture? I dont know, its definatley water driven problem. As i sat there last night and she wasnt turning over, i saw the Rev tacho just spin to 3 grand without the car firing, then back to 0, then did a full 360, and went back to 0.

Check for water on the ECU, nothing. Only thing is, my vents on my bonnet wernt open, i always have the plates on them, only the bonnet scoop where the TMIC used to be is where water gets in and am unsure as to what other pluugs other then the 02 Sensor on the dump pipe that watter could effect. The 02 sensor wouldnt do that to my car.

Also, today when i was driving it to the shop because it had fired up, she was going along, all of a sudden at 95km/h (keeping it out of spool) accelerator died, car was running, dropped down a gear, revs didnt respond on the clock, down another gear, same deal etc.

Sounds like an AFM to me, maybe i got a thrashed AFM from a drift car in japan

Seans a champ. Just informed me that my window may be leaking from the seal, hitting my ECU which has water in it and was running off a base map tune.

So i gotta get me window reseal ahh!

And yes, you guys were right (i think so far) Z32 is all good so far and the scoop doesnt need to be sealed up as the 02 sensor and wiring harness wont be affected by it.
