Default DS2500 and Squeaky brakes

hey guys,

I have had installed DBA4000S slotted and DS2500 brake pads a few weeks ago.

And from day dot my brakes have squeaked under light load, i.e moving slowly in traffic ect where the brake peddle is hardly depressed.

Now is this the downside of having such a brake pad?? Or could there be something wrong with installation..

Huy has mentioned that he gets the same squeaking with his DS2500s..

did you put in the anti squeal plate and paste? Although a little bit of squealing is fairly normal with high performance pads and rotors.

Did you bed them in properly? I wouldn't worry too much - pretty common occurance.

Tenagh installed the rotors and pads.. Whats this anti-squeal plate and paste. Never heard of it.

Fred, tenagh also took the car for a drive to bed them in..

As long as its normal, which i suspected then i will have to live with the noise.. Just sounds like my brakes need replacing all the time.. ahhaha

Anti squeal plate is a thin metal plate that sits in between the pad and the caliper, it stops squealing.

Either you dont have the anti squeal or your pads is dirty, try cleaning the brakes with a water hose. Works for me everytime the pads is dirty

Mine squeak a bit more, now. It almost sounds like the pad is constantly in contact with rotor? Maybe it is, as i had trouble getting the pad to slot in, even with the pistons lying flat with the caliper.

Brake pads are always pretty much in contact with the rotor (cept for warped ones ) it's just there's no pressure on the rotor to cause any significant effect. I've often believed squeeling is partly due to brake dust between the pad and rotor and in the centre slot of the pads. A good hose out often gets rid of most of my squeeks, but yes with performance pads you've gotta accept some squeel at low speeds and/or when they're cold.
