Default High Oil Pressure

Hi all, i have a strange problem with my oil pressure.

My car sits on about 6 - 6.5 bar of oil pressure when free reving to about 2500 - 3000rpm. Cant drive it ATM cause the oil pressure build up quite high.

What could be causing high oil pressure???

My mechanic has flushed the system but i still have high oil pressure. Any ideas.

These reading have been confirmed with my Defi Gauges & my mechaincs seperate oil pressure gauge, both giving same results.

BACKGrOUND:
While sitting at the traffic lights last week my oil pressure dropped to about 1.7 - 1.5 bar causing an alarm on my gauges. Once i pulled over the pressure dropped to about 1 bar. I also noticed i split a water bypass hose.

I got the car towed home and replaced the hoses and replaced with fresh coolant. Started car and got ridicuosly high oil pressure, on intial warm up car sat at 5 bar and slowly went down to 4 bar. Took car for a drive around the block taking it really easy. Once i hit about 3000rpm oil pressure up to 6 - 7 bar.

Perhaps a blockage on a oil return line coming from something. Causing the oil to back up behind it and with the pump continuing to pump builds up pressure.

Do an oil flush and put on a new genuine filter.

When mines cold its around the 4-5 mark, can't remember exactly. But when its warm it sits at a shade below 2

Just an update

Mechanic installed a brand new oil pump but i still have the same symptons.

Dealerships are recommending to strip the motor to find the problem.

Not happy about this, can anyone shed some light on what is causing high oil pressure. PLease

Anthony

Just for everyone else's information, does anyone know what are safe/normal readings for oil pressure at idle and under load?
