Default Electrical issues?

On saturday, I had trouble starting my car a few times, after a bit of playing around and starting and restarting, I finally worked out something.
On turning the key on, if I could hear the fuel pump (as is normal) the car would start no problems, but when I couldnt hear it (6 out of 10 starts) the car would start, cough splutter and die.
Later, I noticed that when I turn on my headlights for the first time since starting the car, I head a quiet churp from the alarm.

Now, my thoughts are
-The fuel pump itsself is faulty
-Fuel pump relay
-A short in the wiring somewhere
-Brant playing up

Not sure which or what is the problem, anyone have any suggestions?

can you click of the relay just before the fuel pump turns on? Could be faulty wiring to the fuel pump.

I would also suspect the brant playing up as well.

If I cant fault find myself, Ill be up for between $90 - $150, depending on how difficult the problem is to find.
Plus what ever it costs to fix on top.

Not good timing considering the cars booked in for a verso next tuesday

Sounds like the brant may be playing up. and not allowing the fuel pump relay to be turned on

Rip the brant out and replace it with something else. I still dont know why Subaru persists with that shitty system. Hope they dont use it on the 08 WRXs. Communism was good in theory too.

id put a fuel pressure connection on see how much fuel pressure you have to see if ya pump workin proplerly or not. it prob be one easyst things to get checked should only take a mechanic ten min to check

1 day & $150 later, the problem has been diagnosed.

-Faulty Alarm Module
-Faulty Alarm Siren

Subaru want $335 for a replacement & fitting.
Not sure what to do, as I want to retain the keypad immobiliser, but obviously, need to replace/remove the faulty alarm. (Its still in there at the moment)
