This is Car Basics 101.

99.99% of the time, a free flowing exhaust will make more power than a stock exhaust system...generally, stock systems are built to conform with ADR drive-by noise regulations, and this generally means they are restricted to keep the noise down, which also reduces power output.

If you dont know this, then you shouldnt be modifying your car full stop until you learn more about it.

While were here, I have a 3" RMS catback exhaust with X Force cannon muffler which I'm trying to get rid of fairly soon.

This only applies to the older models, 06 models onwards have single tip.

yes. should be bolt on with no mods. But why would you do it? Don't expect a performance increase

By your post it seemed you were talking about the OEM 06 STi exhaust.

My bad. Ensuring that aftermarket and OEM will follow the same path from the cat back.
