Default Flat Spot

Hey, ive just recently purchased a 99wrx and ive noticed at about 4 grand in 3rd gear there tends to be a flat spot where it seems to lose a bit of boost ( dont have boost gauge yet so cant be sure ) this doesnt occur if u ease the throttle on only when u flat foot it or close to.

Does this sound like fuel delivery or something turbo related ??

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

( car is stock, and the temperature of the car does not effect this condition at all )

I had a similar problem with a supposedly stock MY99 that I had, turned out some idiot had put an extra olive in the turbo line & it was overboosting to 19psi, pulled it out & it was perfect. Might be worth having a feel.

Does it only happen in 3rd, or does it happen in all gears at that rpm?

Na it happens in all gear mostly 3rd 4th and 5th, not so noticible in 1st and 2nd it seems to rev past it, well revs harder and moves thru the flat spot quicker i think.

The revs it happens at change depending on the gear but in 3rd its about 4 thousand RPM
